The Special Accommodations thing

This is my start to how do you a say...a series of rants/experiences/wtf moments/jokes/et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I created this blog to appreciate the efforts of the professor and Teaching Assistants (T.A). I feel you bro. The amount of trouble you have to go through grading papers and satisfying students at the same time is beyond me. Like holy crap...these students can be touchy. Let me first start by saying that I am not comparing myself to a TA or professor. I am a grader. Jeez, I felt like the narrative genes of Morgan Freeman flowing through my body when I wrote that line.

I grade as a part time job on top of tuition getting paid by the university. It's a how do you say....a shitty job. But hell it pays $10/hr so I'll take it. College students need the $$$ for *ahem* "recreational" purposes. I've been doing this job for the past three semesters and my thinking notion has gone from "Well, he made a tiny error on his part, it's fiiine" to "Holy crap, what are you on right now?" Again I do not want to insult the students, I just want to point out some hilarious comments/ reports/ home-works I get and share it with you. Keeping it anonymous of course ( I don't like getting sued).

So let's begin shall we?

Part 1: The  Special Accommodations thing

Ugh I hate it when I have to auto-correct accommodations. I always forget the second m, sigh.

Anyways.

Most universities....let's say all universities have this policy known as Special Accommodations (I fear for the universities which don't). From the university website, the policy states that if an individual is considered to have a disability such as physical or mental impairment that substantially limits major life activity, then he/she can apply for a special accommodation. Special accommodation involves extra time on tests for the disabled. Now this is a perfectly acceptable policy except that a few students abuse it. This is a S/O to them. The story goes like this: two students A and B complained to the professor that they could not take the exam on Monday because they had class before and after this class. Plus they have an exam. Since they could not take the exam the same day they have to reschedule it on another day. Now here's the kicker, since their exams are rescheduled they automatically get a special accommodations test(double-timed test). Now not to pick on these two students but...c'mon. I look at you both and you seem perfectly normal to me. You both have your sorority caps/swag on and well let's just say you have the looks...like HOT DAMN. Anyways, what I am trying to say is why spoil yourselves with this treatment. I'll be honest, it's gonna get tougher by junior/ senior year and then you can't do shit about it :(. In my days I had three exams and couldn't do shit about it, the university has softened up now about it but hell, grow up man. Life's a (excuse my "french") bitch. This is a big assumption here but either A or B had a huge fight with her boyfriend and is now dealing with...sigh...stress -.- I feel so stereotypical saying that. Great, now I feel ignorant :|

The point I'm trying to make here is that I hope freshman/sophomore students understand that life is tough and the road ahead is not going to get any better. The only way tackle that cracked road is through hard work and time/management. I would also let people know that this is not a hate crime. I am an angel. I just don't have a halo on top of my head.

Well...I didn't mean this post to be that...deep but whatevs. Trust me I've got some hilarious ones too. Next one is titled 'The "idk" phenomenon' Hopefully this gives you an insight as to how my life goes by as a grader. It is currently 2/21/2014, Friday, 5:26 PM and I am still supervising students A and B. Oh the irony.
